Urban Planner need to keep track of information about building in a city. When people want to build something on a site, they have to make sure that they fit within the legal codes for that area --- they are called zoning codes.

Enter the Edifice Website and find building close to your school

What are the zoning codes near your school? Look them up on-line. What do they mean?

Where are the largest buildings in the city? What is located there?

Pick a block in your neighbourhood. Calculate the average square footage of the buildilng on that block

Scan all of the buildings in teh 4 blocks surrouding your school.What are they used for?

Now take a walk through your neightborhood. What other questions do you have about the sites in your neighborhood? Write them down.

Now, identify an unused or abandoned site in your neighborhood. See what information you can gather about the site from the Edifice map.
